In preparation for the match against one of the spectacular football teams, Iceland, the All Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) along with four national team players who are currently members of the Indonesia Selection made a friendly visit to the Faculty of Sports Science, UNY. Iceland is spectacular because it is a FIFA Cluster A football team, which is a contestant for this year's World Cup Russia. This 'only' country with a population of around 330 thousand is expected to provide experience and knowledge with the Indonesia Selection PSSI team towards world achievements.
Bandung Saputra, Media Officer of PSSI said that the visit of PSSI and the 4 Indonesian Selection players was a gathering, introduction, and asking for blessings from the academic community of the Faculty of Sports Science, Yogyakarta State University. In addition, the visit further strengthened the relationship between FIK UNY and PSSI that had existed for a while. The four players are I Made Wirawan (Persib), Alfin Tuasalamony (Sriwijaya FC), M. Abduh Lestaluhu, and Manahati Lestusen (PS TNI) who are retainers of the national football team.
The Dean of FIK UNY, Wawan S. Suherman, accompanied by the vice deans and the head of the FIK study program welcomed the visit that afternoon (10/1). "So far, FIK UNY and PSSI have collaborated several times and will continue to improve in the future," added Wawan. Currently, the ongoing collaboration between FIK UNY and PSSI is a special class program for former U-19 national team retainers who take the Sports Coaching Education Study Program. In the future, the Dean of FIK hopes that the PKO FIK UNY Study Program together with PSSI can cooperate in obtaining the AFC C License (Asian Football Confederation) for graduates majoring in coaching.
