UNY FUTSAL TEAM COMPLETE STUDENT LEAGUE CHAMPION

The Yogyakarta State University futsal team completed its success in winning the Kaskus Central Java and Yogyakarta Conference (CJYC) 2017 Futsal Student League (LIMA) on Sunday (27/8) after the UNY men's team defeated the Semarang State University (Unnes) futsal team with a final score of 7- 3 for UNI. Previously, the UNY women's futsal team secured the championship title after convincingly defeating the Indonesian Islamic University (UII) women's futsal team with a final score of 5-0. In the championship which was held at the Ki Bagoes Hadikoesoemo Gymnasium, UII Yogyakarta Campus, the men's futsal team of UNY was followed by Unnes Semarang as the runner up and Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) as the third winner. As for the women's futsal category, the Yogyakarta State University team won, followed by the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) futsal team and Sebelas Maret University (UNS) as the second and third winners.

After winning this championship, the UNY men's and women's futsal teams, which are almost entirely students from the Faculty of Sports Science, have the right to advance to the national round which will be held at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Malang, East Java, in October. Saryono, M.Or., the futsal coach of the UNY team who is also a lecturer in the Department of Sports Education, FIK UNY, said that in the future the players would continue to practice and ask for the support of the entire UNY academic community to face the next level. "The achievement of the women's futsal team was able to defend the title of the previous year and this time the men's futsal was able to provide achievements in the national round as champions," said Saryono. Furthermore, Saryono added that the success of being a champion in Lima this time could not be separated from the fighting power and support of all players, 'officials', FIK leaders, and UNY leadership ranks as well as UNY's football UKM coaches. For the next 2 months, the UNY futsal team will continue to practice and improve the team's weaknesses.
